Day 1 — Fasting State
This is Transition Day, and your body is starting to shift into a fasting state so it can begin preparation for the cellular clean-up. You’re eating 1150 calories today, so it’s not so bad! You might feel a little off due to the reduced caloric intake, depending upon your current diet. But, enjoy Day 1 as it’s the most amount of food! Today your body is beginning to shift into a fasting state and starting to send the signals that will trigger visceral fat loss, cellular clean-up, and rejuvenation in the coming days.
Day 2 — Fat Burning
The diet drops to about 770 calories beginning today and for the next
3 days. Fat burning ramps up and ketone production begins, and by the
end of the Day 2 you may be in mild-to-moderate ketosis. Ketones are
the alternative fuel for the body, and they’re made when glucose is in
short supply. Some people will feel a state of euphoria when in a
ketogenic state … that may happen over the next few days. Some will
begin to experience weight loss on this day, others will notice it
later in the diet or afterwards – everyone is different, don’t get
Your body is also starting to get into cellular clean up mode, also known as autophagy. This can be a tough day for some, as you are transitioning into more of a fasted state, and ketosis will generally happen later today into tomorrow. It’s also normal to feel a bit cold in a fasting state, as your body shifts into a resting mode. Make sure to stay well-hydrated!
Day 3 — Autophagy
Cellular clean-up is happening! Autophagy is in full swing, getting rid of old, worn out intracellular components and cellular debris, and ketone production continues. This could be your hardest day…but hang in there! Autophagy starts to happen during the first few days into the fast and continues into day 5.
Day 4 — Cellular Rejuvenation
Cellular clean-up and rejuvenation continue as sustained cellular recycling and renewal. You’re at the peak of cellular rejuvenation today, as the process of autophagy really ramps up. Day 4 is important as you’re in the final stretch. For many, Day 4 is when that “fasting high” is often experienced. Some may notice they don’t feel as hungry at this point in the diet.
Day 5 — Renewal & Change
This day represents renewal and change. You’re completing your fast today and cellular renewal continues beyond Day 5. Keep going on this last day to reap the transformative benefits such as weight loss results, enhanced performance (that is, improved mental clarity, focus and energy), and a kickstart to healthy habits including a change in your relationship with food, reduced food cravings, and better portion control.
